The portraits are taken from a body of work I completed in 1996 when I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer photographer for the International federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The project took me to five different countries in the Caribbean where I photographed a wide range of Red Cross programmes run by both the Federation and individual National Societies. The images were taken in a variety of situations - from food distributions, flood reconstruction, refugee repatriation, community health programmes and special need education. Through this diversity shines a significant unifier, the tremendous energy, dedication and caring of Red Cross volunteers and workers.
